➜ Manual: Capture by shaking the iPhone

A.2 Basic workflow in 5 Steps
Step 1: Prepare your trip

Choose your mode before starting your trip

- In the standard mode, your iphone makes captures every 5 minutes. In the preferences,  you can increase the pace of the captures (every minute) or disminish it (every 10 minutes).

- In the precise mode, your iphone makes captures every 30s. This is great when you move fast (in a car) or when you visit cities. Note that in this mode your iphone will use more battery.

- When you have an iphone 3G or higher, the Energy saving mode will locate you using GSM and WIFI, but not GPS. This mode is less precise than the other modes, but it uses almost no battery!

- In the manual mode, you can make captures by shaking you iphone. When well used, this is the most precise and energy saving mode, because it makes captures only when you want it to.

After a long flight, it might take longer for your iphone to make the first capture. In that case, please use the ‘Extend GPS search’ button in the preferences of the app.

Step 2: Start a new trip

Once you have selected the convenient mode, you can start your trip!

On the dashboard, you can check the quality of the first capture.

We recommend you to check on the map to make sure the first capture is correct.

*

Step 3: During your trip

During your trip, click on the “map” button to see the captures on the map and click on them to check their quality. If needed, you can change your capturing mode by sliding your screen.

The dashboard contains all the important information about your trip:

x the day you started

x the length of your trip

x the quality of the last captures (bottom right of dashboard)

*

Step 4: Export your trip

Once your have finished taking pictures, you can export your trip.To export your trip, press export and take a picture (with your camera) of the QR code on the screen. After a very long trip, the app can create several QR codes you have to shoot. In that case, the app wil show a messageAlthough we recommend you to export the trip using the QR code, you can also export via GPX. GPX is a file that contains all the information of your trips. You can send the file via email to yourself and import it in Aperture or other photo software.

Step 5: Geotag the pictures with gps4cam desktop

When you have exported your trip, you can import your pictures on your computer. Herefore, you have to use our free software that you can download on our website (gps4cam.com)After downloading, the software open the app and select the input and output directory for your pictures.Once your pictures are successfully geotagged, you can import them in you favorite photo management application (iphoto, aperture, lightroom,…)Note: You can select the same input and output directory to geotag you pictures directly on you camera. When this is done, you can open your photo management software and import your pictures like you always do. *

B. GPS4CAM Pro (1.2)

A.1 Features Description
All features existing within gps4cam (see herebefore)
Accurate time based capture: gps4cam Pro allows you to choose easily the timeframe between two captures with high accuracy.
Online Connection through Dropbox to GPS4CAM: This Online Mode allows you to store the necessary informations on the cloud (on your dropbox private space). gps4cam Pro then generate a simplified & unique QR Code (easier to photograph). This Simple QR code allows gps4cam desktop to find automatically these informations on the cloud and geotag your photos.
Altitude Export: gps4cam Pro allows you to capture along your trip the altitudes informations you need. This feature has been requested by pilots, hikers & paragliders.
Ultra Accurate Positioning: By default the precision of gps4cam capture is +/- 15m. By exploiting IOS6 & optimizing the QRCode crypting algorithm, gps4cam dev team has improved significantly this precision if you choose that mode.
gps4cam pro launch catch-up: Because some of you forget to launch the applications and send us some mails to understand how to manage the photos done while the application was not working…we have created the launch cach-up feature. It doesn’t mean that your application is always working but simply that the photos done as the application was not working will be associated to the 1st capture after the launch of the application.
Trip Naming: Possibility to name a trip from the beginning of the trip (and not only after the ride)

This choice allows you to optimize the number of QR Codes to Photograph.

- If you are connected, we suggest you try the dropbox export allowing you to generate only one QRCode that identify your trip knowing that your trip datas will be downloaded directly by gps4cam desktop when geotagging your photos.
